If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know that I tweet regularly every day. The reason I do so is because I'm trying to establish myself as an expert in my field by offering tailored and timely advice. The reason why I'm able to do so is because I am connected to the river of content, from which I can pick a few relevant things to be able to develop my own content from. Like I've always said, nothing is 'new', everything is a remix of what's been before (proof).
How to get started?
👉🏾 Research like crazy. Depending on what field you're in, research existing experts in your field. What are they talking about? What type of content do they share? What topics keep on coming up for them? What videos or posts do the best for them? How often do they post on their socials? You may be thinking, I'm a graphic designer or music artist, so how does this apply to me? Look at the content people in your niche are posting, what general ideas keep popping up?
👉🏾 Answer a question or two. I get a lot of my content ideas by building them around questions that people have asked me. From time to time, even those dry up, so I turn my attention to tools I can use to answer questions indirectly. I use Answer The Public often, particularly for generating blog post ideas for the Musta website, but also for generating ideas for tweets and even content like this! By using a basic keywords you can see what people are really curious about. Some more advanced versions of this include TubeBuddy and Keywords Everywhere which are great too.
👉🏾 Look all around you. There's always something happening in the world around you, whether good or bad. The great thing about this is that it will always provide an opportunity for you to create content. For example, when the Premier League was finally given the go ahead, some music artists came up with new tracks celebrating it, and when Kamala Harris was first announced as Joe Biden's VP candidate, I saw a few graphic designers coming up with some really good potential campaign material for her that blew my mind.
Content is everywhere, trust me.
