Closure Is Calling You

Do you know what else I've had to seek the most closure with over the years? No, not old boyfriends...
Bad ideas.
Not bad-ass ideas. Just bad ideas. Don't worry, we all have them.
That phrase "there's no such thing as a bad idea"... it's true, but it's also not true. Let me explain.
👉🏾 An idea is a bad idea if it's actually still a thought
I think there's a big difference between a thought and an idea.
A thought = 'jogging in the morning is a good form of exercise'. An idea = 'jogging in the morning is going to help me improve my physical health'. Do you see the difference? You don't? Okay, let me help you out << Test First Name >>. The key thing that transforms a thought into an idea is CONTEXT. An idea has to mean something to you, big or small. If it's still underdeveloped or malnourished, then it sucks. It needs to have some meat on it.
👉🏾 An idea is a bad idea if it does not inspire action
A good idea will always get you going. It'll get you out of bed in the morning. It'll get you up out of your seat. It'll get you doing the jive across the dining room table (I'm joking). But what I'm not joking about it how much of a rush a good idea gives you. Why? Because all our ideas are about how to improve our lives in one way or the other, everything we do is motivated by that. Don't believe me? Write down a list of 10 ideas, I guarantee you they will all link back to the improvement of lives (either yours or people you know). If I'm lying, pop me back a response- I dare you.
👉🏾 An idea is a bad idea it creates more problems than it solves
Just think about it. Really think about. How many 'ideas' have you had, that you've made decisions of the back off, and actually ended up making the situation much worse than before? An idea is meant to improve a situation, not make it worse. We're compelled to think in the first place because something isn't going the way that we anticipated that it would, or something just honestly sucks. We wanna fix that, improve it- whatever. So any idea that doesn't do that, is a bad one. It's just a shame that we don't always see it in good time.
Now, we've all had these sorts of ideas. The unfortunate thing is that like me, we all get attached to some really bad ones. We struggle to let them go because we believe so much in them, even though they're clearly wrong.
But we all need closure so that we can all move on to better ones.
How? Take an objective stance rather than a subjective one. Pick the idea apart, get to know it over dinner, then toss it out after dinner if it's no good. The longer you date a bad idea, the harder it will be to let go.
